Utilities

I never noticed this when I was just trying this out, either because it’s so unfamiliar (why it’s supposed to make sense, I don’t know) or I don’t know, it’s just unnoticeable but the point is, I ranted at plurk about why I can’t find the Manage Categories panel only to realize that it’s under Utilities. I think that Utilities is a vague term but I can’t think of any other names so, sorry.

Inbox

What’s the inbox for? Is it going to be like a contact form? So you won’t need to upload a plugin anymore? Methinks that would be cool, I am very much willing to talk about it if only it’s available in the nightly build but anyway, if I’m right, that would be nice. :) Only, there’s no reply button so I think that I’m 99.9% wrong.

Install Plugins

Do I hear people cheering or do I hear people cheering for the very feature we’ve all been clamoring for? :) And yes, it is true! You can install plugins within your admin panel already! And if that’s not enough, or if for some reason, that’s not working, guess what?! You can download the file and upload within your browser. It’s still in the works though. :)

The only thing I noticed is that I think it would be nice if instead of calling it install plugins (in the navigation) it would be better if it’s called Plugin Browser/Installer. Like what they called it at the blurb under the Get More Plugins heading.

Conclusion

All in all, I think that the redesign is nice, it has some bad points and needs to get used to but those are just based personal preferences, I think. I for one, also love that the write new post link is in the upper left corner and is just there waiting to be clicked.

However, I think that this redesign won’t sit that well to other people, since, after all, they just did a major redesign a couple of releases ago.
